October 20, 2026
Directions
Preheat the oven to 220°C fan-forced.
Toss the sweet potato fries with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper.
Spread over a lined baking tray and roast for 30 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crispy.
Split the beef mince into 2 equal portions and roll into a loose ball.
Get a cast-iron, heavy frying or BBQ plate pan piping hot.
Add the beef balls to the dry pan.
Immediately pile a small handful of sliced onion directly on top of each beef ball.
To smash the ball into a pattie, place a small cut sheet of baking paper over the onion/beef side of the ball and press down really hard with a burger press or heavy spatula to a thickness and size of your liking.
Season the exposed onion side with salt and pepper.
Leave the burger pattie to cook and crisp up in the pan for around 2-3 minutes.
Scrape and flip the pattie.
Add the cheese slices and cook the second side of the pattie for another 2-3 minutes.
Divide the roasted sweet potato fries between the 4 bowls and top with the burger patties and remaining ingredients finishing with burger sauce.
