Salt + cracked pepper

2 slices burger/American cheese

To Serve

1 small cos lettuce, shredded

500 g cherry tomatoes, halved

1 cup sliced pickles of your choice

Diced parsley

Store bought burger sauce

Directions

1Preheat the oven to 220°C fan-forced.

2Toss the sweet potato fries with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper.

3Spread over a lined baking tray and roast for 30 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crispy.

4Split the beef mince into 2 equal portions and roll into a loose ball.

5Get a cast-iron, heavy frying or BBQ plate pan piping hot.

6Add the beef balls to the dry pan.

7Immediately pile a small handful of sliced onion directly on top of each beef ball.

8To smash the ball into a pattie, place a small cut sheet of baking paper over the onion/beef side of the ball and press down really hard with a burger press or heavy spatula to a thickness and size of your liking.

9Season the exposed onion side with salt and pepper.

10Leave the burger pattie to cook and crisp up in the pan for around 2-3 minutes.

11Scrape and flip the pattie.

12Add the cheese slices and cook the second side of the pattie for another 2-3 minutes.

13Divide the roasted sweet potato fries between the 4 bowls and top with the burger patties and remaining ingredients finishing with burger sauce.
